Katie Holmes revamps her mumsy image with a daring see-through top

It may have a high neckline and fall to the knee, but there was nothing demure about Katie Holmes’ see-through dress last night.

The outfit had a daringly sheer top, but thankfully the actress wore a plain T-shirt bra underneath to keep some of her modesty.

She teamed the Azzedine Alaia outfit, which had a pretty frilled skirt, with plain court shoes and black clutch bag

Katie, 30, was at the 16th annual Elle Women in Hollywood Tribute in Los Angeles, without husband Tom Cruise and daughter Suri.

But she confirmed that the three-year-old and her father helped her picked out her clothes, Hermes bag and Givenchy shoes.

‘She gave me a big thumbs up!’ she said, referring to her toddler. ‘She loves clothes and picks out her own.’

Katie revealed in the November issue of Elle that the 47-year-old Tom is often behind her outfit choices and considers himself something of a sartorial expert in their household.

‘He usually likes everything, but sometimes I’ll walk out and he’ll say, “I think that dress might be wearing you. You don’t need that”,’ she said. ‘Tom has great taste.’

The event, held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, was hosted by Alec Baldwin, and featured a dinner in celebration of women’s achievements in film.
